Detailed view in black and white of roofs of Trulli in Alberobello, a small Italian town in the metropolitan city of Bari in Puglia (Apulia), it is famous for its characteristic trulli, a constructive model of spontaneous architecture.
The trullo is a conical construction in traditional dry stone of central-southern Puglia (Apulia); declared 1996 World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the primitive Apulian trulli were built by farmers and shepherds with the stones collected on the spot, consisting of a single compartment, they were used as a temporary shelter or as a deposit for agricultural tools. Over time, the shape has undergone a slow evolution, arriving at houses with several rooms, consisting of a main room, plus other smaller perimeter rooms.
The roofs are embellished with decorative pinnacles, which according to many represented the signature of the master trullo who had built or restored the trullo, whose shape is inspired by symbolic, mystical or religious elements.
Born in the late 70's, I started taking pictures with film; a long break due to my studies in mechanical engineering (because engineering can also be art) and then I started again with new technologies, digital reflex, mirrorless and post processing; my curiosity leads me to photograph everything, but I prefer landscapes and panoramas; I love the calm and serenity that a sunset gives me, the harder it is to wake up to admire the sunrise ...
